A series of proposals to try to improve water quality around Wisconsin is headed to the state Senate.
The Assembly approved the $10 million plan yesterday.
Republican Rep. Todd Novak of Dodgeville led a special task force that put together the 13 bills. He says challenges with water quality started decades ago, so it’s going to take some time to deal with them.
Novak also believes it’s not a political issue, between Republicans and Democrats, but a state of Wisconsin issue.
One of the proposals requires schools to test water for lead, and take the necessary steps, if they find problems. Another would help low-income families treat the causes of well contamination.
