The Village of Harrison has a new plan to pay for streets.
Administrator Travis Parish says they’re going to share the costs with property owners for eliminating ditches, and putting in curb and gutter.
The village board approved a policy that calls for the village to pay for the main pipes and street work. Property owners will have to pay for the curb, gutter, and driveway apron, along with their connection pipes.
Parish says it’s just not sustainable for the village to maintain a low tax rate, while paying for every part of a road project.
Parish says the cost for property owners will depend on the width of their driveway. He thinks it could range between $3,000 and $10,000.
Parish says the change will mostly impact people on the village’s north side, around Highway KK in the Darboy area.
