Some state lawmakers are looking back on Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna’s time in office.
They honored him at City Hall this afternoon, with a proclamation. Hanna isn’t running for re-election, after 24 years.
Republican Sen. Roger Roth of Appleton says if someone left the community in the 1990’s and came back now, the city could be almost unrecognizable. He says it took Hanna’s leadership to help the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, the Fox Cities Exhibition Center, and so many other projects become a reality.
Democratic Rep. Amanda Stuck of Appleton says he’s really been able to strike that balance of helping businesses, while also making it a great and welcoming place for people living in the city. She believes that’s very difficult to be able to do.
Republican Reps. David Murphy of Greenville and Ron Tusler of Harrison were also joined by Republican Sen. Andre Jacque of De Pere. They also shared stories about Hanna.
Hanna says the comments were very humbling, but it’s also great to know that they paid attention to the work that’s been done in Appleton. His final term will come to an end in April.
