When a Republican state lawmaker leaves office next year, he’ll be remembered for his push for funding for public schools.
Sen. Luther Olsen of Ripon says it’s the most important thing they do. He was the chair of the Senate and Assembly education committees over the years.
Olsen says he spent 21 years on the Berlin School Board, and education sort of became his passion.
Olsen is retiring from the 14th District seat when his term ends. He’s been in the Senate for 16 years, and he was a member of the Assembly for 10 years before that.
Olsen has also been a critic of expanding the private school voucher program beyond low-income students.
