Police say a shooter murdered five workers at the Molson Coors Brewery headquarters in Milwaukee, before taking his own life.
Chief Alfonso Morales says the gunman was a 51-year-old Milwaukee man, and he worked at the brewery. He says officers found the suspect dead in a building.
Morales says officers also discovered five dead victims, in the same building. All of them worked for Molson Coors.
Morales credits officers for running into an active shooter situation. They started swarming the campus that used to be known as the Miller Brewing Company, around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The complex is north of I-94, between the downtown and Miller Park.
Molson Coors CEO Gavin Hattersley is thanking workers for their bravery. He believes it’s important for people to keep them all close in the coming days and weeks.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says the five victims thought they’d be able to go home to their families after work, but now they never will. He says five families, six families actually, will be grieving, because of the “horrific act of this individual.”
Governor Evers says it’s a tragedy for Milwaukee and the entire state. He says the five people were “horrifically murdered.”
