Tax season started just over a month ago, and the April 15th deadline is about six weeks away.
Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca expects the state will receive about 3 million returns this year. So far, more than 1 million have come in.
Barca says last year, 88 percent were e-filed. He says that figure has been climbing every year, but not as quickly since they got into the high 80-percent range.
The state has handed out more than 700,000 tax refunds so far this year. The average amount is $720.
