The number of domestic violence arrests in Fond du Lac went up by 7-1/2 percent last year.
Police averaged one arrest a day for domestic abuse.
Agnesian HealthCare Domestic Violence Services Director Tiffany Parker believes people are more aware of the problem, and that’s a factor in the increase. She says the idea was to target early intervention, when officers respond to incidents. That way, she says the victims and any children can get help from different local agencies.
Fond du Lac Police point out that despite last year’s numbers, domestic violence arrests are still down 11 to 12 percent over the past three years.
