State funding will help add a sidewalk and pedestrian path, along a stretch of Highway N in the Darboy area.
Calumet County is already planning to re-pave the road from Highway KK to Highway 10 this year.
Highway Commissioner Brian Glaeser says they’re getting $1 million to make the upgrades. He says they’ve heard safety concerns from the neighborhood about being able to get around, and walk to school.
Glaeser says the sidewalk and path would run from Highway KK, south to Schmidt Road. He says they’re studying a possible roundabout at Schmidt Road.
Those projects might not be done for a couple of years.
The project is one of about 150 in Wisconsin that are getting money from a new $75 million fund for local road work.
