Appleton leaders are calling on state lawmakers to use a nonpartisan process for re-drawing Legislative districts.
The city council voted 13-1 last night.
Ald. Kyle Lobner says it’s fundamental for democracy to have fair maps at the state and local levels. He thinks the city is sending a clear message.
Governor Evers plans to set up a nonpartisan task force to put together maps for Congressional, Assembly, and Senate districts. The Legislature has the power to draw the state’s maps, and Evers has to approve them.
