There was a decline in visitors and circulation at Appleton’s library last year.
The number of people walking through the doors of the library was down seven percent last year. Circulation slipped by six percent.
Assistant Director Tasha Saecker says more people are using their e-books, streaming video, and e-music, and that’s a positive sign. The e-circulation was up 31 percent.
The number of people using the library’s Wi-Fi rose 12 percent. Saecker says they’re seeing more people come in with their own devices to use the free Wi-Fi. The amount of data that was transferred over Wi-Fi jumped 77 percent.
Saecker says they had much higher participation in programs. Attendance was up 52 percent, led by a 78 percent spike in children’s programs.
