A state lawmaker doesn’t think Native American tribes would care if Wisconsin formally legalizes paddlewheel raffles.
Governor Evers vetoed a bill from Republican Sen. Andre Jacque of De Pere last week.
The governor raised concerns about the impact on the casino gambling deals…with Native American tribes. Evers says it would be an expansion of the games that are allowed, under a Class B raffle license.
Jacque says paddlewheel games raise money at church picnics and meat raffles. He doesn’t think they’re cutting into casino profits.
Jacque worked to officially legalize rubber duck races….several years ago. He says the tribes haven’t raised questions about that.
