Waupaca County Sheriff’s deputies say a man died while trying to save a dog that fell through the ice.
They were called to a pond on private property in the Town of Weyauwega, just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The dog was able to get out, but it took firefighters about 10 minutes to find the man, and bring him to shore.
He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
