Hopefully you’ve done a deep clean of EVERYTHING in your life – house, spouses, pets and kids included. The main directive from health officials has been to wash your hands (vigorously) for 20 seconds and not to touch your face. Message received?
But what about your cell phone?
An alarming number of people, for whatever reason, don’t clean the one object that they are (literally) constantly in touch with.. their cellphone.
Isn’t your cell phone supposed to harbor more bacteria than a public toilet? Yes. So why aren’t the collective ‘we’ constantly cleaning our cell phones? Great Question. I only play a doctor on WAPL, people with actual P.H.D’s from The Journal of Infectious Medicine did a study on this topic.
Basically you should DEFINITELY clean your cell phone…but not compulsively. You should be more concerned about things like door handles, rails and objects that are publicly-shared.
Here’s a wonderful video from Wall St. Journal contributor Joanna Stern about cell phone cleaning methods and how much (or little) they matter.
