“Run Silent, Run Deep,” “The Hunt for Red October”, “Das Boot”, “U-571”, “Ice Station Zebra”, “Yellow Submarine” …. (well, maybe not that one) but there’s no lack of choice if you’re in the mood to watch people more isolated than you living deep under the water. Or you could ask Roxanne Steele, who’s a well-known submarine movie aficionado.
Someone who’s actually lived that life under the sea, is a former member of the British Navy, Jon Bailey. He’s spent a large portion of his life living in a submarine and has some tips to help us deal with the isolation we’re experiencing in this time of Covid-19.
Routine – Create a routine by dividing your day between working, resting, exercising, eating, etc.
Privacy – Find a private place and make sure to schedule some time there.
Food – DON’T EAT ALL DAY (easier said than done, right?) Take time to cook and prepare meals.
Exercise – Staying healthy is not easy at home, but if you get creative, it can break up the monotony.
Clean – Sometime cleaning is a great way to break up the day plus you accomplish something essential.
Connect – Stay in touch with people. Just because we’re quarantined doesn’t mean we have to lose touch with the outside world.
