The fight over the design of a rebuilt Lakeshore Avenue in Neenah might be over.
The city council wants to build an off-road path that winds between the street and Lake Winnebago.
Mayor Dean Kaufert says some neighbors are threatening to file a lawsuit to block the trail.
The road is already closed, so the city can replace the underground utilities. Kaufert says they’re going to put out bids for the path, and they’ll start construction, unless a judge blocks that part of the project.
The city held a community survey, and Kaufert says about 60 percent preferred an off-street path. The other two options were paths along the street.
