The Department of Health Services says right now, the state has reached a major benchmark for scaling back social distancing rules.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard says they’ve seen a downward trend in the percentage of new positive coronavirus test results, over the past 14 days.
That means the state has met three of the six criteria under the Badger Bounce Back plan from Governor Evers. Two of the other categories calls for a decline in COVID-19 symptoms and influenza-like symptoms. The third calls for a downward trend in positive tests for health care workers.
The percentage of new positives over the past day in Wisconsin was 6.9 percent. That’s down from yesterday’s figure of 7.8 percent.
There are now 10,418 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state. That’s up two percent from yesterday’s total of 10,219.
There have now been 409 confirmed deaths, and that’s nine more than yesterday.
Brown County has 27 new cases for a total of 1,924. Fond du Lac added eight for 101. Outagamie has five more for 117.
Shawano has three more, and 25 overall. Winnebago added two, for a total of 100.
Two counties each have one more. Calumet’s at 41, and Oconto 28.
Fifty percent of confirmed cases in the state have recovered.
