A nurse at a large long-term care facility in Kaukauna says their residents are counting on everyone to prevent the spread of coronavirus, so they can see their loved ones sooner.
Kteile Smith of St. Paul Elder Services says they fear they’ll only be able to be with their loved ones again when they’re dying.
She says workers are taking precautions. She stresses the biggest fear among long-term care workers is they could unknowingly bring the virus into their facilities.
Smith says they’ve had two confirmed cases at St. Paul Elder Services, and they did their jobs to make sure it didn’t spread.
Smith joined Thursday’s media call with the state Department of Health Services, to talk about how long-term care facilities are being impacted.
