So you’re asking yourself, “Should I change jobs?” or “Should I buy the house?” Do you make that decision by meticulously going over every aspect of those BIG decisions by utilizing any number of measurable metrics or just flip a coin.
Flip a Coin?
Seems like a good way to make a bad decision. But not according to Steven Levitt, economist at the University of Chicago and co-author of “Freakonomics”, he says you should just flip a coin.
They just completed a study where participants were given a BIG question, like “Should I quit my job?” . . . “Should I propose?” . . . or “Should I get a tattoo?”
They then flipped a coin and let the fates decide the outcome.
Fast forward six months later and the people whose coin told them to make the big change were happier than the people whose coin told them not to.
