The day-long protests in downtown Appleton took a tense turn, later at night.
Appleton Police Chief Todd Thomas says some people made their way from Houdini Plaza to the police station. He says the group surrounded some police cars, made threats, and wrote on the squads. They were able to wipe off the cars right away.
Thomas called it “unacceptable behavior” after a day filled with peaceful protests and good discussions.
No one was arrested or hurt.
Thomas says they’ve talked with organizers of the protests, to try to prevent something like that from happening again.
