Appleton’s city council doesn’t want to put a referendum on the ballot dealing with term limits.
Some wanted to ask voters what they think about setting 12-year limits for the mayor and council members. It would’ve been an advisory referendum.
Ald. Michael Smith says voters can decide whether someone has been in office for too long, when there are elections.
Former Ald. Chris Croatt proposed the referendum, before he left office in April. He didn’t run for re-election this spring.
