A state agency has guidelines for public schools to reopen in the fall.
It includes recommendations for putting together flexible schedules.
Louise Wilson is the school nurse consultant for the Department of Public Instruction, and she stresses they’re not considered mandates. She says they encourage districts to work very closely with their local health departments.
Some of the options include keeping classes to no more than 10 students per teacher, and holding in-person classes as few as two days a week.
The plan takes into consideration that a vaccine might not be broadly available for another year or longer. The agency also warns that short-term closures could be possible, until that happens.
