Former Governor Tommy Thompson has a transition team in place as he prepares to take over as interim president of the UW System. He named former state Assembly Speaker Tom Loftus, a Democrat and former state Department of Administration Secretary Scott Nietzel, a Republican as the team’s co-chairmen. Thompson is asking the team to look at the system’s budget and organizational structure before he takes over as president next week.
