There will be a Republican primary in the 54th Assembly District in the Oshkosh area.
Don Herman, known for his company that pulls trucks out of Lake Winnebago in the winter, is getting in the race. He says he wants to bring a little common sense and small business knowledge to Madison.
Hans-Peter Kohlhoff is also running as a Republican.
The winner of the August primary would face Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz in November.
