Plenty of calls came into police about fireworks over the holiday weekend.
Brown County received about 175 complaints from Friday to Sunday. About 110 of them were in the City of Green Bay.
Fond du Lac Assistant Fire Chief Jim Knowles says they had three fires in garbage or recycling containers, during a two-hour time span, and they weren’t far from each other. He says two were caused by throwing fireworks out too soon.
Firefighters in Green Bay had seven calls last weekend connected to fireworks. The fires caused almost $180,000 in damage. No one was hurt.
Police Commander Kevin Warych says they handed out seven warnings, but didn’t write any tickets.
