Car sales are down 26 percent in the region through the first half of the year.
The coronavirus pandemic led to big drops, during the “safer at home” order, and sales in 2020 are significantly lower.
Reg-Trak in Waterloo reports sales for SUVs and trucks fell 18 percent through June, and cars were down 51 percent.
The first-half numbers were the worst in Outagamie County, with a 43 percent decline. They were down 10 percent in Winnebago, 17 percent in Brown, and nine percent in Calumet.
April was the worst month in the region, with a 63 percent drop in overall sales. The “safer at home” rules were in place for that entire month.
