A state expert is concerned the jump in COVID-19 cases could eventually lead to more hospitalizations and deaths.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard of the Department of Health Services says what’s so very serious about the situation, is Wisconsin’s at risk of having the virus get a widespread foothold. He says that would put everybody at risk.
Westergaard says the danger with that, is the virus could spread to older people, and those can be much more serious cases. He stresses they don’t expect to see deaths go up, but it’s a dangerous situation when the epidemic is growing.
He says that’s why it’s so important to find chains of asymptomatic cases, and isolate them, so they don’t unknowingly spread it.
