Everyone will need to wear masks inside buildings on UW System campuses this fall.
Interim President Tommy Thompson pushed for the rule, and the Board of Regents unanimously approved it.
The former Republican governor and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary doesn’t think they could reopen campuses safely, if people weren’t wearing masks. Thompson says the health and safety of people takes precedent over arguments that a mandate is a constitutional infringement on freedoms.
He’s also asking Governor Evers for $110 million for coronavirus tests, personal protective equipment, and contact tracers.
