One of the state’s experts on the coronavirus pandemic says the current situation is bad, and potentially getting worse.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard of the Department of Health Services says the continued rising numbers among young people is especially concerning. He believes many of the younger people are getting tested because they have symptoms. He says some in that age group never develop symptoms, and don’t know they have the virus.
He thinks the actual case numbers for 20- to 29-year-olds is just the tip of the iceberg.
On the positive side, Westergaard says he’s encouraged that more people are wearing masks, and understanding that masks can help prevent the spread.
