The CDC is recommending children two or older wear masks in public, and a pediatrician says there are ways to make kids more comfortable.
Dr. Kevin Hayes of ThedaCare says if they’re really young, parents should keep things simple, and focus on the importance of wearing them so other people don’t get sick.
He believes parents can take a more detailed approach with children around seven years old. That can include talks about germs and how to prevent them from spreading.
Hayes thinks parents could also have their kids practice wearing a mask for short periods of time at home. He says it’s important they learn not to touch their mask or face.
