College sports are canceled at least through the fall for NCAA Division III schools in the area.
The WIAC is calling them off for the fall season, and that covers UW-Oshkosh.
Lawrence University, St. Norbert College, and Ripon College won’t play at all in 2020. The Midwest Conference made that decision.
Joe Vanden Acker is a spokesman for Lawrence’s athletic department, and he says it’s a tough pill to swallow, but there really wasn’t any other way to go.
He says it will be the first time since 1917, during World War I, that Lawrence won’t have a football season.
The WIAC is moving the women’s golf and women’s tennis seasons from the fall to the spring.
