The third phase of trials for a possible coronavirus vaccine is beginning.
Prevea Health President Dr. Ashok Rai tells Action 2 News researchers found there were minimal side effects to the injection. He says safety and effectiveness are the two of the most important outcomes.
He believes they won’t know for some time how long a vaccine will last. He says it could be a few months, or a lifetime.
Rai says researchers will try to determine if the vaccine is helping people produce antibodies against COVID-19, and if they can actually neutralize the virus.
The National Institutes of Health and Moderna are developing it.
