Two Madison women are facing formal charges in the beating of a state senator.
Democratic Sen. Tim Carpenter of Milwaukee was attacked at a protest outside the Capitol last month.
Twenty-six-year-old Samantha Hamer and 33-year-old Kerida O’Reilly are both charged with a felony count of substantial battery.
Hamer has been a social worker at Mount Horeb High School, and the district placed her on leave. O’Reilly is a physical therapist.
