While more cities and counties are putting mask mandates in place, how they’re enforced can vary.
Oshkosh City Manager Mark Rohloff says it’s not worth calling 911, if someone isn’t following it. He’s deeply concerned about making it a police action to enforce it, and Chief Dean Smith agrees.
The Oshkosh Common Council will take up a masking proposal next month.
Businesses that don’t follow it would be referred to the Winnebago County Health Department. People refusing to wear a mask, and leave a building that’s open to the public, would be reported to police.
