There are 950 more confirmed coronavirus cases in Wisconsin, the most in a single day since August 14th.
The state is reporting 10.9 percent of tests were positive, and that’s the highest rate since last Sunday. It’s also the fourth straight day of increases. The figure was 7.8 percent yesterday.
The seven-day average is up to 8.2 percent.
There have been 70,009 confirmed cases overall. The state has 7,977 active cases, and that’s 59 more. That total had dropped for seven straight days.
Hospitals are treating 350 COVID-19 patients, including 40 new people. Another 190 are waiting for test results.
Thirteen more people have died, and the overall total of confirmed deaths is 1,081.
Brown County has 167 new cases, and that’s the most in the county in a single day. The previous daily high total was 150 on April 24th, during an outbreak at meat plants.
The state Department of Corrections reported 126 inmates at the Green Bay state prison tested positive yesterday, so they account for most of the new cases. So far, 185 inmates have caught the virus, and the department was waiting for about 500 more results from inmates and staff.
Fond du Lac County has 37 more cases, Outagamie 30, Winnebago 15, and Oconto 12.
Calumet and Manitowoc each added 10.
Waupaca has nine new cases, Green Lake six, and Kewaunee three. Shawano and Waushara both have one more.
