Jacob Blake’s father says the 29-year-old is paralyzed from the waist down.
The father is also named Jacob Blake. He told the Chicago Sun-Times his son has “eight holes” in his body. The father said he didn’t know if his son’s paralysis would be permanent.
Anger over the shooting of Blake by Kenosha police spilled into the streets for a second night. Hundreds of protesters defied a curfew and threw bottles and shot fireworks at law enforcement guarding the courthouse. Businesses were set on fire.
Kenosha police say they were called to a domestic situation on Sunday before Blake was shot. An arrest warrant was filed against Blake in July. He was charged with third-degree sexual assault, trespassing and disorderly conduct. All three have domestic abuse modifiers. It’s unclear if that case has anything to do with what happened Sunday.
