The number of available coronavirus tests in the area is down 40 percent.
Appleton school superintendent Judy Baseman says that’s what local health care providers and health officers are reporting. She told school board members tests are being sent to other higher-need states and regions.
Asst. Superintendent Polly Vanden Boogaard says the turnaround time for test results has been anywhere from two to 10 days.
Appleton schools will start the year with online classes, with hopes to return to some in-school learning if local COVID-19 case numbers go down.
