The state’s top health official says the COVID-19 numbers show the statewide mask rule is having an impact.
It’s been in place for nearly five weeks.
Department of Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm says they’ve seen a decrease in case activity levels, and the daily trends. She says science also shows masks work.
Palm points to a recent study by the medical journal “Health Affairs.” She says it found states with mask mandates had significant declines in case rates, compared to ones without a rule. And she says the difference grew larger, the longer the order was in place.
The mask mandate is currently in place until September 28th.
