A Neenah man is on trial in Winnebago County this week for the deaths of two sisters in a boat crash.
Forty-six-year-old Brian Sullivan is charged with homicide by drunk boating, after 26-year-old Lauren Laabs and 20-year-old Cassandra Laabs were killed on Lake Winnebago two years ago.
DNR Conservation Warden Michael Neal testified that because of the location of the two boats, the Laabs family had the right of way He says Sullivan should have slowed down or taken other steps to change the course of his boat.
The women were thrown from the boat, along with the family’s dog.
Sullivan’s attorney told jurors an expert believes Sullivan’s blood-alcohol level was .07. That’s under the state’s legal limit of 0.08.
The trial is scheduled to continue through Thursday.
