Prosecutors say the suspect in an Oshkosh murder told investigators the victim was saying very insulting things about the suspect and his girlfriend, before the shooting.
Twenty-seven-year-old Ricardo Martinez-Mendez is facing a charge of first-degree intentional homicide, in the death of 36-year-old Jarvis Gladney.
Prosecutors say the two neighbors got into an argument in an apartment building on Taft Avenue, near Oshkosh West High School, early last Saturday morning.
They say Martinez-Mendez told investigators he got mad and pulled out his gun. He’s also accused of saying Gladney grabbed his neck, before he pushed the victim away and shot him.
Gladney died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say they had a standoff with Martinez-Mendez at his apartment for several hours after the shooting, before he surrendered.
