A Green Bay police officer is expected to recover from a stab wound to the face.
Police say the officer was trying to arrest a suspect in a double murder, when the man stabbed the officer and then cut his own wrist. Both underwent surgery, and the suspect is also going to be alright.
Commander Paul Ebel says they found the murder victims in an apartment on the northeast side. They were called to the building on Clement Street on the city’s northeast side, near Baird Creek Park, last night because neighbors heard gunshots.
Ebel says the suspect and victims knew each other, but they don’t have a motive yet.
He says they tracked down the suspect around 5:30 a.m. today, and he led police on a short chase. They say he crashed his car at the corner of Dousman Street and North Broadway, and tried to run away.
