A Green Bay murder suspect is getting a new trial. The state Court of Appeals throws out the First Degree Intentional Homicide conviction of Richard Arrington. Arrington was found guilty at trial of shooting Ricardo Gomez to death outside a Day Street home back in April of 2016. The Appeals Court found that police violated Arrington’s rights by placing an informant in his Brown County Jail cell and recording conversations related to the shooting. The judges also found that Arrington’s attorney failed to properly challenge the admissibility of those recordings at the trial. Arrington had been sentenced to life in prison. No new trial date has been set.
