Court suspends Waite law license

The state Supreme Court suspends the law license of former Waushara County District Attorney Laura Waite. Waite volunteered to have her licensed suspended indefinitely–citing mental health issues that have left her unable to practice. Waite was appointed Waushara County D-A by Governor Tony Evers in April of last year. She stopped handling cases or coming to her office less than two months later. Waushara County officials filed a complaint with the Office of Lawyer Regulation–which opened an investigation into Waite’s absence. She lost her bid for re-election last November.
