There are a few golf shots throughout the history of the sport that could be considered a “one in a million.”
We’re not talking about a boring ol’ hole-in-one either – that’s easy! People seemingly do that every week around the world.
We’re talking about a shot so rare that this video may be the only documented evidence of it ever happening – and it didn’t even happen on a golf course!
San Antonio teen, Thomas Gomez, and his friends were having some fun at a Topgolf in San Antonio, Texas when lightning struck – LITERALLY!
A storm blew in as they were hanging out but they didn’t let that deter them from their fun. They decided to hit one last shot before they left – and what a shot it was! Sure enough, on that swing, a lightning bolt comes out of the storm and obliterates the ball struck by Gomez – all captured on social media. Because again, teens, record everything in their lives. But this moment was historical.
“I decided to hit one last shot then leave,” Gomez said. He asked his friend to record his last shot of the game and just seconds later, a massive bolt of lightning trickled down the sky and struck the ball.
No one was injured but they were understandably shook.
“I heard the thunder and my instinct was to run… It was all a blur,” Gomez said. “It could have hit me… it could have hit any of us. It was actually pretty scary after I was thinking about it for a while.”
