Residents of Fox Crossing will have to put up with the sound of train horns for another couple of years.
In 2019, the village completed a study on what it would take to become a quiet zone, where trains would not have to sound their horns at crossings. Village Administrator Jeff Sturgell says it’s not as simple as putting up flashing lights and gates.
He says they need to make upgrades to Winchester and Irish roads before they can earn enough points to qualify as a quiet zone.
