The Wisconsin Supreme Court upholds the constitutionality of the Brown County sales tax. The Brown County Taxpayers Alliance challenged the legality of the tax–arguing that it was being used to fund construction projects and not provide the required property tax relief. The state justices have ruled that the tax is providing tax relief as the county does not have to borrow to fund projects like the Resch Expo Center and the county jail. The half-percent sales tax was initially approved by voters to fund improvements to Lambeau Field–the county chose to extend it in 2018.
