To protect… to serve… and to defend yourself against squirrels.
That’s the temporary motto for Harrison County, Indiana deputy David Wheatley – who had a way-too-close encounter with a rebellious rodent recently.
Here’s the set up: An older woman opened the door of her trailer home to let her cat in, when the squirrel barged in, running up the woman’s leg and up to her head – scratching her in the process.
Deputies arrived and were able to capture the scofflaw squirrel after what was deemed a ‘brief pursuit.’
But then it attacked officer Wheatley once it was removed from the home. (See hysterical video below)
The department said the squirrel remains on the run (or scamper) and is wanted on charges of residential burglary, breaking and entering and battery to a police officer.
For his bravery in the line of duty (under extreme duress), Deputy Wheatley was given a bronzed squirrel and a martial arts award.
Seems fair.
