A word for “Wiser Times” – don’t rush the stage during a Black Crowes show unless you want a guitar in the face – as one down-under interloper found himself on the business end of Rich Robinson’s Gibson guitar.
Video from the show in Melbourne shows a man rush the stage during the Crowes’ “Stare It Cold.” Roadies quickly respond trying to hustle him off stage. During the fracas, the guy bumps into both Robinson brothers and as he’s strongly-ushered to the side of the stage, he meets Rich Robinson’s guitar face-first and gets a verbal lambasting (and almost mic stand stabbing) from Chris.
Metal Injection said about the becoming-all-too-frequent stage-rushing incident:
A man rushed the stage in bassist Steve Pipien’s direction. Security quickly intervened and attempted to escort the man off the stage, but he was able to wiggle free. It was at this point that Rich Robinson took off his guitar and slammed it into the man’s face / chest. Chris Robinson also took a swing at the man with his mic stand and appeared ready to stab him with it; fortunately for the stage crasher, he was pushed off the stage before the incident escalated any further.
Word of warning: never challenge two brothers who have fought each other numerous times because you will lose that fight every time.
