NEENAH, Wis–The city of Neenah has rejected petitions turned in by opponents of a residential development at the site of Shattuck Middle School. Homeowners opposed to the project turned in petitions on Monday that would have required the Neenah Common Council to have a three-quarters majority vote in favor of a zoning change for the property.
City Attorney David Rashid would not speak on the record with WHBY as to why the petitions were rejected, other than to say they did not meet the requirements of the city ordinance or state statutes. Rashid says to provide that information would constitute “giving legal advice” to the homeowners group.
The Neenah Council is scheduled to vote on the rezoning request Wednesday night.
