Since sometime in 2019 there has been an ongoing legal feud between the remaining members of Soundgarden and Vicky Cornell. Vicky is of course the widow of Soundgarden singer, the late great Chris Cornell. Now the story goes that before Chris died in 2017 he was working on a new Soundgarden album with the rest of the band. There are 7 songs completely written, but Vicky representing the Cornell estate got into a legal battle with the actual band. After years of back and forth, it looks like both sides have come to an agreement and the world will get to experience these new Soundgarden songs.
The seven songs were worked on from 2015 to 2017, the year Cornell died. He wrote two of the tracks by himself — “Cancer” and “Stone Age Mind.” He co-wrote “Road Less Traveled,” “Orphans” and “At Ophians Door” with Matt Cameron; “Ahead of the Dog” with Kim Thayil; and “Merrmas” with Ben Shepherd.
Below you can see an interesting look at Soundgarden’s last-ever concert which happened in May of 2017 in Detroit.
