NILES, Ill–A cow that ran loose in a Chicago suburb for several hours this week came from Winneconne. A group of high school students from Nile, Illinois purchased the cow for $700 from Todd Boelter’s farm after seeing it for sale on-line.
They planned to use it as part of a senior prank at their school, but the animal got loose Wednesday and led police on a pursuit through residential neighborhoods and business districts until Thursday morning. The chase garnered live T-V coverage on Chicago stations.
The teens were issued several citations. The cow has been turned over to a humane society.
